Circuit Breaker Action Business Support Package

, By February 26, 2021 December 14th, 2023 No Comments

As part of the new initiative put forward by the Victorian Government to help businesses with the circuit breaker action to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a four-part support package has been designed with $143 million available for eligible businesses.

If you have queries regarding these packages and whether or not your business will benefit from the support that they offer, you can get in touch with the Victoria Business coronavirus Hotline or speak to your accountant at Dillon Partners by calling our office on (03) 9696 1788, or filling out our contact form. The latter can provide you with up-to-date and relevant advice.

What are the four initiatives available within this Circuit Breaker Action business support package?

Business Costs Assistance Program.

If you have costs incurred from the circuit breaker action, such as cancelled bookings or perished food that you were unable to sell, then the business costs assistance program might enable you to recover these costs.

Eligible businesses have a payroll of $3 million or less, and they can receive a one-off payment of up to $2000. This is irrespective of whether they have employees or not.

Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund.

Those who received a grant through the licensed hospitality venue fund will receive a further $3000 as direct support for the circuit breaker action and the subsequent impact that it has had on their businesses.

There is no need to apply for this payment as the government will contact those who are eligible. However, if you receive this payment, you cannot apply for the business costs assistance program.

Victorian Accommodation Support program.

This program is an expansion of the regional tourism accommodation support program, assisting accommodation for tourists in the Greater Melbourne area. If your accommodation premises have suffered due to cancellations caused by the circuit breaker action designed to limit the spread of COVID-19, then you may be eligible for this support.

To tiers have been established to fund cancellations between Friday 12th February and Wednesday 17th February.

Travel Voucher Schemes.

To encourage Victorians to travel across the state in order to boost our tourism industry as it attempts to recover from both the impact of COVID-19 and the bushfires, two travel schemes have been established and are ready to launch.

These include a new Melbourne travel voucher scheme and an expanded regional voucher travel scheme, bringing an additional 50,000 vouchers from previously announced support.
